In the hot seat this week is our Business Director Calum Irvine. Calum talks to us about how PFC Corofil has evolved in his 14 years at the company, the aspects of the job that he enjoys the most, and what piques his interest outside of work!
What does your job involve?
My job involves overseeing the Sales, technical and operations aspects of PFC Corofil. Essentially my role consists of making sure that everyone makes it home safely every day and the business incurs no liability, whilst being profitable!
How long have you been at PFC Corofil?
I’ve been here for 14 years, and the transformation I’ve seen in my time here is amazing. When I started with the business, turnover was under £2m. Now it has grown to be a business with over £10 million turnover!
We were one of the original passive fire protection companies in the UK and I have witnessed the business growing particularly in Cavity Barriers and Linear Gap Seals sectors!
What do you like most about your job?
This is an easy one! The thing I like most about my job is the people that I work with. I enjoy watching people develop and progress throughout the years that they work here, and I’m also very proud of what the business has become!
I’m pleased that the Brand is still going!
What is a typical day for you?
This is tough as my days can be pretty varied and I sort of do a bit of everything really, filling in for people when needed. However, a typical day for me will usually consist of members of staff checking with me on technical pricing and operational matters, spending a lot of time with customers and developing customer relationships and then reporting back to the Diamorph Group!
Why is PFC a good company to work for?
For me, PFC Corofil is a good company to work for because it is enjoyable to have the ability to develop a business in the direction that you want to, with the backup of the Diamorph Group!
And finally, what do you like to get up to away from work?
There are a few things that I enjoy doing in my time off, including spending time with my children, supporting Newcastle united and watching the F1 – I’m a big fan of both!
I spend my time following indie music, and I’ve also been known to cook up some gastronomic delights in the kitchen!
