We had the pleasure of talking with Simon Evans, where he ran us through his role as Technical Manager and the tasks and responsibilities that come with it. We also get onto the topics of Guinness and motorbiking!
What does your job involve?
I guess you’d say that overall, my technical role is to manage the technical side of the business!
what this entails is ensuring that products are tested to the correct standards and for the correct applications. I get involved in the specification side of the business – through contacting the architects and presenting CPDs, going through with the architect the design of the building and the firestopping within the building and ensuring that the correct products are specified for the correct applications.
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
All of it really, particularly the buzz of picking up a specification. When I was in sales it would have been the buzz of picking up an order, but now it has changed, and it’s the buzz of getting a specification.
Also, The fact that every day is different, and the different range of things that make up what I do keeps the job interesting and rewarding!
What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day for me would probably involve me supporting the internal technical sales team, ensuring that the advice that they have given is correct. Alongside this, I would be responding to technical enquiries that architects have asked us. I’ll also support the sales teams on their enquiries.
What makes PFC Corofil a good Company to work for?
PFC Corofil is just an enjoyable company to work for, with good relationships within the company! There are lots of different personalities, which makes for a fun time but also helps in having varied opinions!
And finally, what do you like to get up to away from work?
Outside of the office I like riding my motorbike, keeping fit and spending lots of time with my wife and family, especially my 8 year old Grandson! I’m also partial to a Guinness or two, as you can probably tell from the photo!
