PFC Corofil is committed to improving safety and compliance in the construction industry. Recently, we achieved a major milestone by earning CCPI (Code for Construction Product Information) assessment for our Linear Gap Seals and Cavity Barriers, and specifically for the products listed below*. This CCPI registration and assessment process, introduced after the Grenfell Tower tragedy, engages companies in ongoing improvement of construction product information and marketing for registered product sets and helps to provide greater confidence that product information is clear, accurate, and reliable.
CCPI - a new standard of compliance
The introduction of CCPI means manufacturers must uphold high standards in how they present, communicate and market their products, with the aim of reducing and ultimately eliminating ambiguity in safety-critical details. CCPI assessment also drives continuous improvement; companies must revalidate their products every two years to ensure they still conform and during the two years are obligated to maintain registration and continuously improve their product information.
CCPI also extends to distributors and builders’ merchants, helping drive up standards in product information marketing and management across the whole industry. By achieving CCPI conformance for our Linear Gap Seals* and Cavity Barriers*, PFC Corofil is helping lead the industry towards higher standards in product information and management, which will support safer, more compliant building practices.
Burning Wisdom Podcast with The Encon Group
On a recent podcast with The Encon Group, Calum Irvine, Business Director at PFC Corofil, explained how CCPI not only assesses PFC Corofil’s submitted product information but also assesses how the company communicates safety information across its teams – leaving no stone unturned with regards to PFC Corofil’s CCPI assessed product sets*.
Calum said, “We think it’s vitally important that the information that specifiers, distributors and customers are receiving is accurate so they can rely on that information when making a decision about putting our products into a building…as a business we now have a structure and a framework within which to operate when presenting our product information”.
Not only an excellent framework which reinforces PFC Corofil’s commitment to the highest safety standards, Calum believes that CCPI “will contribute to the landscape of changes that are required across the industry to help make buildings safer in the future.”
While acknowledging that we’ve made great progress with CCPI at PFC Corofil, Calum recognises that there is always more to be done: “We are currently working on our service penetration systems – we’re making sure that the product data is ready to go to the assessment stage, and once it’s ready we will be putting them forward [for CCPI assessment]”.
The proactive approach we at PFC Corofil have taken positions us as a leader in fire protection, with many tier-one contractors already having pledged to use only CCPI-assessed products. Indeed, Calum believes CCPI will eventually become a mandatory requirement: “The CCPI is still voluntary, but I believe the whole construction industry will eventually engage with CCPI – I think in moving forward it’s going to be difficult to go after a government funded project without having CCPI in place”.
By achieving this assessment for six of our products as listed below, PFC Corofil is demonstrating its commitment to making buildings safer and ensuring compliance across the construction industry.
