Meet our Production Manager Philip Hughes and learn about his role at PFC Corofil, as well as what he enjoys outside work.
What does your job involve?
My job as a production manager involves planning in orders for the ops team and liaising with customers who have a request to bring orders forward, complaints or have a general query. I also monitor the progress of orders to make sure that we meet our delivery dates. I also get involved with some aspects of health and safety with the operations manager and raise non conformance reports for any complaints that customers have or problems with stock from suppliers. I liaise with the sales team everyday regarding any queries about orders. Occasionally I cover for purchasing or logistics when staff are on annual leave. I also step in for the Ops manager when he is on holiday.
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I get the most satisfaction out of helping customers. It gives me a sense of achievement when I can help them with a problem or am able to bring orders forward. Knowing that they are happy with the service and the outcome we provide makes the difference.
What does a typical day look like for you?
The first thing I have to do everyday is have my coffee. I cannot function properly without that caffeine fix! I will then sit down at my desk and check my emails first as they are a priority. I will then plan in the orders put on from the previous evening and throughout the day I will deal with whatever comes my way as well as liaise with the ops supervisor regarding work that is ongoing. Usually my day finishes at 4pm at which point I go home and enjoy time with my girlfriend after a hard day’s work.
What makes PFC Corofil a good Company to work for?
It is exciting to see how much PFC Corofil has grown from what it used to be and I am enjoying being a part of that growth. I am excited to see where the company will be in 5-10 years time.
And finally, what do you like to get up to away from work?
I am a massive Arsenal fan and like to go to games as much as I possibly can. I also like to go mountain biking and snowboarding and have recently caught the bug for travelling. This year I have been to Amsterdam twice and also went to Rome in the summer which was amazing. We have already planned trips for next year which I cannot wait for.
